Welcome to InsuranceNewsNet’s blogs!
We’re finally blogging, but because we’re InsuranceNewsNet, it will be a little different.
After all, we have always been a little bit different. In 1999, when the traditional media were still cranking out news and information the same way that they had since the 19th century, Paul Feldman was an insurance salesman who wanted to see industry news and marketing online. So, he just started doing it.
People said online news for insurance was a novelty, but nothing to take seriously. But Paul bought newsfeeds and streamed volumes of information so wide-ranging that people didn’t have to go anywhere to keep up with the industry. The idea was to empower individual agents and advisors with the information they needed. And who better to do that than one of their own?
While traditional media lumbered over to the Internet, Paul saw an opportunity in the print world that they were abandoning. In 2008, he started a monthly magazine. And the people who said that the Internet thing wouldn’t work? That’s what they said about the magazine, too. Several award-winning and profitable years later, they appear to be about as wrong about that also.
So, people say blogs are on their way out. That’s our cue to do something different with them. We will start with Assistant Editor Susan Rupe, Contributing Editor Linda Koco and me. The topics will vary from the timely to the timeless. You will see a short, blog-like take on the site’s homepage and the blog’s home site. Then you can click for a longer read.
Our aim is to speak to you directly about what’s happening and what’s important. We want this to be conversation expanding beyond serving up information.
Let’s see what the future brings.
